The OPAL concept is to unlock the potential of private data for public good in a privacy-conscientious, scalable, socially and economically sustainable manner.
OPAL (for "Open Algorithms") is a non-profit socio-technological innovation founded in 2017 by a consortium of partners from MIT Media Lab, Imperial College London, Orange, the World Economic Forum, Data-Pop Alliance and Imperial College London. The OPAL for mobile operator data branch is now implemented by the Flowminder Foundation and Digicel Haiti.
